Maytag washers show F-codes or short letter codes on most models when a cycle is interrupted. Here is what the common codes mean and the first thing to check.

MeaningDoor lock problem

First thing to tryClose the lid or door firmly and make sure nothing is caught in it. If it will not lock, call a technician.

MeaningLong fill — water supply problem

First thing to tryOpen both faucets fully and check the inlet hoses and screens for kinks or clogs. If it comes back, call a technician.

F9E1 / LD

MeaningLong drain

First thing to tryCheck the drain hose for kinks and clean the drain pump filter if your model has one. If it comes back, call a technician.

MeaningToo many suds

First thing to tryLet the cycle finish and use less HE detergent next time.

MeaningBasket speed problem
